Motherly
Way Enterprises
was created by Julie Carr after the birth of her
first son, Peter Jordan (PJ). During her pregnancy, she read lots
of books that described in detail the changes in a woman's body
during pregnancy, but did not focus on the development of her unborn
child. Wanting to concentrate more on her growing baby than on her
growing pains, she developed the daily calendar Countdown
to a Miracle: The Making of Me and focused solely on the new
life within - written uniquely from the baby's point of view. She
self-published the book in November, 1999. After personally
selling 20,000 copies, she sold the rights to a publisher in 2006.
The calendar is now titled Countdown to My Birth and
continues to be successful.
During
her second pregnancy with Benjamin, she was once again inspired
by necessity and created the "Miracle Apron" to prevent
unnecessary staining of her children's clothing from blueberries,
yogurt, and whatever else they could get their hands on!
That was soon followed by the 'Expecting a Miracle' shirts and
pregnancy journal.
Her newest creation is Making Me: The Pregnancy Activity Book for
My Big Brother or Sister to help the older sibling bond with the
new baby-to-be. New products
are constantly being added to the company that enhance the lives
of the expectant family.
Living
in Portland, Oregon with husband, Dave, Julie spends her time at
home with her children, working on her business, and windsurfing
whenever possible!
Mission
Motherly
Way Enterprises is committed to helping children and pregnant
women, both near and
far. Over the years, we have donated boxes of "Countdown to a Miracle"
calendars to teen pregnancy clinics across the country to encourage "at risk" teens to remain healthy
during their pregnancies. These calendars have literally changed
the harmful behavior of many young women, giving their babies a healthier
start to life.
We
have also implemented a program to help needy children and their families in Costa Rica
and Nicaragua by supporting
Empowerment International - an organization that spends 100% of the money they receive on the children. For every 'Countdown to
My Birth' calendar sold on this website, $1 will go to Empowerment International to provide school uniforms for children who could otherwise not attend school. We have supported this organization in the past, donating towards a scholarship program and again donating money when a fire destroyed 10 of their homes. Let's help break this cycle of poverty with education!
Feel free to view the beautifully photographed children on their
photo gallery, and help with your own donation if possible.
